To be an artist is to believe in life. Henry Moore
Drawing was just the beginning of the creative journey for Marcia. Exposure to the world of art began when studying graphic design, figure drawing and painting. She worked as a graphic designer, a faux finish and muralist painter, and owner of a small painting studio. It was having the studio (2016-2019) and teaching others about the inner joy of being creative that fueled her passion to paint more than just occasionally. Over the years her style has expanded from realistic to expressive realism showing movement and light through many thin layers of paint. She is inspired mainly by Rembrandt, Renoir, Picasso, and the Impressionists, although all art forms are an inspiration. In her paintings, Marcia captures a moment in time paying mindful attention to the play of light, movement, and the myriad of colors present in all things living or man made.
Inspiration and starting a piece of art: I enjoy creating in an expressive, representational style full of movement and light. Paying attention to the play of light within subjects and on the surface is where I find inspiration, joy, and excitement.
The more I think about it, the more I realize there is nothing more artistic than to love others. ~Vincent van Gogh
